Do people in South Sudan actually search Google to find businesses?
Yes — and in Juba in particular, a significant portion of the customer base consists of international staff from the UN, NGOs, embassies, and development finance institutions. These customers have no local network and rely entirely on search engines and verified reviews to make purchasing decisions. They also represent the highest-spending customer segment in the country. Beyond the international community, smartphone and data usage in South Sudan has grown substantially, and local customers increasingly use online search for services they cannot find through word of mouth.
South Sudan is still developing economically. Is it too early to list?
The opposite is true. Because very few businesses have any indexed online presence in South Sudan right now, the first business in each category to claim a Google ranking faces essentially no digital competition. A law firm in Juba that lists today may be the only law firm in Google results for months or years. The advantage of listing in an underdeveloped online market is that the return per listing is highest precisely when there is the least competition — which is now.
My main customers are NGO workers, UN staff, or embassy personnel. Will they find me on Destinali?
Yes — and this is one of the strongest arguments for listing. International personnel in Juba routinely search Google for restaurants, clinics, car hire, event catering, plumbers, electricians, and professional services. They cannot ask a neighbour; they search online. A Destinali profile with photos, honest reviews, your WhatsApp number, and accurate opening hours is exactly what converts that search into an enquiry.
The internet in South Sudan can be unreliable. Does that affect my listing?
Your listing lives on Destinali's servers, not on your device or your local connection. Once it is live, it is accessible to anyone with internet access anywhere in the world — regardless of what your own connection is doing. Your customers in Juba (or anywhere) can find your profile even when you are offline. You only need internet to update your listing, and even then the owner dashboard is fully mobile-optimised.
Which cities and towns in South Sudan are covered?
All major urban centres: Juba, Wau, Malakal, Yei, Aweil, Torit, Bor, Rumbek, Bentiu, Yambio, Gogrial, and Renk. As the directory grows, more towns will be added. If your city is not listed, contact us and we will add it.
My business is informal — I do not have a registration number. Can I still list?
Yes. Destinali does not require a company registration or formal legal status. We verify that the business is real, the contact details work, and the description accurately reflects what you offer. Many businesses listed on Destinali across Africa operate without formal registration. What matters is that you are genuine and serve real customers.
How do I pay for a paid plan? Do you accept mobile money?
Paid plans are billed in USD via an international card payment gateway. Mobile money integration is on our development roadmap but not yet available. The free plan has no payment at all — nothing to pay, no card required.
Is my business information secure once I list?
The information displayed on your public listing is exactly what you choose to share — business name, description, photos, category, location, and contact details. We do not display your private account email, payment information, or any data you have not explicitly provided for your public profile. You can update or remove your listing at any time from your owner dashboard.
