The level of incompetence of these brokers cannot be overstated. Simple broken window claims taking weeks to resolve. You the client constantly needing to chase up by phone because emails are ignored. Even outsurance is better.

It is with regret that I write this review, as I generally had a positive experience with this broker in the past. However, the past year has been a nightmare. After suffering water and mould damage due to a storm last year, I submitted a claim to replace the affected ceilings. Unfortunately, I was informed that my claim would only be paid out after spending R47,000 on painting and sealing the roof tiles and replacing the cement on the roof ridge, allegedly due to inadequate roof maintenance. Do keep in mind that I have never previously had a leak in my roof and has not, since the date of the incident. The appointed contractor did not inspect the damage inside my ceiling or roof but instead took pictures from the outside. Additionally, the contractor chose not to include the second room, despite my explanation that mould spreads and both ceilings needed replacement. The quote also failed to cover the damage to the roof trusses and insulation. In January, I lodged a complaint with the ombudsman, who ruled in my favor in early May. However, the ruling only covered the work listed by the contractor. To have the excluded items replaced, I would need to file another complaint with the contractors regulatory body, which I plan to do after resolving the current issues. Regarding Van Flymen, the level of unprofessionalism and disdain I experienced was disheartening. After signing the necessary paperwork, I had to repeatedly inquire about the first payment. Despite assurances that the payment was processed, proof of payment revealed it was only done at 13:56 this afternoon, a week after my initial inquiries. Previously, I would have recommended Van Flymen without hesitation. However, after this ordeal and a year of waiting for mouldy ceilings to be replaced, I now suggest finding your own insurance and dealing directly with the insurance company. This approach would provide direct information and avoid relying on a broker who appears disinterested in providing satisfactory service. During this process, only about 20% of my phone calls were returned, and I was frequently given incorrect information. Had I dealt with Bryte directly, I doubt I would have been waiting a year. Update: Even though I did explain to Van Flymen numerous times that I have legal obligations that needs to be settled and the funds needed to be in my account so that I do not breach this agreement, it did not happen. I contacted the broker 5 times on Friday asking for an update and proof of payment, I did not receive one phone call from them, needless to say neither a payment or proof of payment. I cannot think that a company can deteriorate this much in one year. The individual that was dealing with my claim was booked of sick and I fully understand but that nobody from the broker came back is not acceptable. It seems that the only time they actually are effective is when you speak to the owner/director after battling for a year to settle a mould claim. Just do keep in mind that the ombudsman did judge in my favour and both the broker and the insurance company was instructed to settle my claim. And this was after I requested a transcript on the recording when taking out my insurance as they kept om making me out to be a liar and that what I am claiming (mind you this second claim resulted due to their decision not to honour my claim) was not covered. I am extremely disappointed in both the broker for their dishonestly and Bryte in not honour my claim resulting in me going through a year of hell living with mould and dishonourable conduct by both the broker and insurance company. Update with regards to Bryte, I received a call from the CEO and we had a discussion and he did apologise for what happened with my claim. For that and his honesty, I would go back to Bryte as their service in general is good and they do cater for insurance cover that is not always provided for by all insurances.

Just plain poor service and lengthy delays in claims. I ended up replacing some of my insured goods at my own expense as their suppliers are as inefficient as they are. Rather self insure or go with one of the smaller insurance companies as the service here is absolute rubbish. You have to be your own broker anyway....

I was a client for more than 10 years. As long as I paid and had no claims it was all good. The minute we submitted a couple of claims they showed us the door and offered to pay around 50% of the assessment amount which included an illegal double excess amount. It was a long battle and I eventually had to compromise and agree to a settlement amount under duress. The settlement amount was much reduced amount after an exhausting process and all I wanted is to bring this ugly saga to an end. I don’t wish this kind of experience to anyone. If you are looking for an insurance broker to look after your interest I suggest that you look elsewhere. Van Flymen conduct is not something I wish to anyone.
