Santam

We insured our 125cc Husqvarna motorcycle through Select Brokers (broker), Brolink (underwriter), and Santam (insurer). The motorcycle was stolen, and the appointed assessor confirmed in writing that the bike did exist at the time of the theft, and that the theft occurred exactly as reported. Despite this, Santam declined the claim, citing “mitigating circumstances” without providing any clear or substantive justification. From our perspective, this feels like a legitimate claim that has been avoided without transparent reasoning. We have paid monthly instalments faithfully, even continuing to pay past the date of theft for almost 18 months, complied fully, provided all required documentation, and the assessor’s report supported the claim. Yet the outcome was still a rejection. Our experience with this claim has left us feeling unsupported and extremely disappointed in the way the matter was handled by Santam, Brolink, and Select Brokers. Based on this experience, we cannot recommend them for reliable claims service.

If I could give Santam zero stars, I would. Their handling of my third-party claim has been nothing short of a nightmare. After months of submitting every document they requested—some multiple times—there has been nothing but delays, generic responses, and a complete lack of accountability. Despite fulfilling every requirement and providing all necessary paperwork via the culprit’s own broker, Santam has failed to process the claim efficiently, leaving me in limbo with no resolution. Their approach to customer service? Ignoring emails, dragging their feet, and sending out mindless copy-paste responses instead of actually doing their job. It is beyond frustrating that after all this time, I am still stuck dealing with incompetence. If you are considering Santam for insurance, do yourself a favour and look elsewhere. A company that operates like this when it is supposed to be offering service is not one you can trust. Absolutely disgraceful.

We are very disappointed with Santam it's been 9 days but when you ready some people says they claim was settled in 24 hours maybe we should change surname to Umhlanga Rocks it will be complete immediately if you with them good luck

We have lodged a claim with Santam submitted all documents required the assessor Nosiphiwo Mtsotso keep changing after all documents submitted very Rude asking when you follow up why you calling Check Santam before aggring to any policy with them they not recommended I lost my phone it's been 11 days no communication with them with the claim Run don't

Sipho Sithole - building claim Claim Number: **********01 - 2 years and 12 plumbers claim still unresolved and he wants to close the claim. He instructs unprofessional and some unqualified plumbers who comes out not able to fix a mess caused by these plumbers. Tumba Lediima's is a registered company but no business profile. 2 Pressure valves changed and I am still losing water of which Santam denied liability. I lodged a complaint with the Ombudsman which was closed as Santam Staff lied and said the claim was resolved. Sneaky incompetent staff.
