i came to the office on a Monday and the security turned me back told me that the office closes at 13h00 Mondays - Fridays and weekends offices don't open, i was there around 13h30, im really disappointed because website says offices close ar 16h00, i really need to come through, id really like to confirm operation times please thank you
They service only ppl with SA ID. If you have a foreign passport its like beating around the bushes.
Probably the most ineffective legal representation you can get and a huge waste of time. Matters are continously remanded and the lawyer unresponsive and apathetic.
They were and are very helpful whenever it come to your rights living in South Africa, The receptionist is very attentive and great you with a smile, although when going to visit at Legal Aid you have to present your Original I.D down at the security at the Reserve Bank.The security are very welcoming and always helpful
Was advised that the Order was granted in our favour and it will take up to 10 working days for them to respond...to date we have had no response, nothing, tried calling their offices to speak to the relevant attorney or their HOD oh my word just to be told there is something wrong with there telephone lines...left messages with reception, who also sounded so unprofessional to date I have not had the courtesy of a call or an email, sent an email to the attorney handling the matter & ccd in the HOD not a word from either of them...tried calling again twice this morning gets voicemail answering machine...wow Legal Aid you need much to be desired...
I had to go there twice to get legal advice. SEPTEMBER 2022. JANUARY 2023. I HAD TO APPLY TWICE. If you don't answer your phone, They don't try the next day. Or the same week. they cancel your application
All was good along until the 5th of April. The day the security lady shouted @me to sign out the registry. I told her I have signed out. She shouted @me twice with so many people in the front of the building. I felt embarrassed but kept my cool and just said I have signed out. Her words to me was I will see that you don't enter this building again. I just said ok politely turned around and left the building.
They don't value their clients. One lawyer says the case is almost over the next tells you its far from over. Legal aid firm should just close down. It's sad how they go home to their warm beds while others fight to survive. It's been 8 years now that my mom has past on and we are struggling. We are still waiting for our inheritance. Since this pendemic has started it's been hard to pay our flat levies. Soon we might even be homeless. Legal aid workers are heartless shame💔.
One lawyer says it's done. The next says no. This is the worst company for people who can't afford a lawyer. I'd advise everyone who has this company as thier defense to change now. The service of the lawyers in the cape town magistrates court are the worst and everyone has complained about the lack of service. Are thier even trained?? This is completely the worst company people . I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND LEGAL AID BOARD
They aren't too keen on answering questions over the phone & you will most likely be told to come to their offices to discuss whatever it is you might need help with ~ Keep in mind that there is virtually no parking available in the centre of town, so rather take public transport to town & then walk to St. George's Mall... * & use GOOGLE Maps to find their offices ~ don't bother asking locals for directions, i tried that & after being sent from pillar to post for nearly an hour, i realised that NOBODY around that area knows where the Legal Aid Offices are!!
